Fear of birds? Fear of Public Speaking? Fear of…?

Many people struggle with intense fears and phobias that can feel overwhelming and even debilitating. Whether it's a fear of heights, spiders, confined spaces, or social situations, these anxieties can have a serious impact on daily life. The good news is that hypnotherapy has a strong and well-documented track record of successfully treating phobias, helping individuals regain confidence and control.

Understanding Phobias

The phobias which I treat generally fall into two main categories:

  • Simple (Specific) Phobias – Fears related to a specific object or situation, such as fear of flying, needles, or animals.

  • Social Phobias – Anxiety about social situations, often linked to fear of embarrassment, judgment, or appearing incompetent.

How Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) Helps

Phobia treatment through cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy follows a structured, highly effective process:

  • Step 1: Learning Relaxation & Anxiety-Reduction Techniques
You'll be guided through relaxation exercises to help reduce anxiety and build a sense of calm.

  • Step 2: Hypnosis & Self-Hypnosis Training
You’ll learn how to enter a deeply relaxed state, strengthening self-confidence and giving you greater control over your reactions.

  • Step 3: Creating a Fear Hierarchy
We identify and rank the situations that trigger your fear, from least to most intense, to develop a clear path toward overcoming them.

  • Step 4: Systematic Desensitization Under Hypnosis
Using visualization techniques, you'll gradually confront your fears in a controlled and relaxed state. Under hypnosis, you’ll imagine being in feared situations while maintaining deep relaxation. This process helps rewire your automatic response—replacing fear with a sense of calm and control.

Why This Approach Works

The method of systematic desensitisation has been proven effective in clinical settings, and when combined with hypnosis, the results are even more powerful. This approach allows you to break free from irrational fear responses, replacing them with a natural sense of ease and confidence. The change is not only effective but also long-lasting.
